Place-Based, Asset-Driven
Community and Economic Development
Who We Are
We help resourceful communities build strategies that improve lives and maintain integrity of place.
At Economies of Place, our mission is to help resourceful communities improve lives and grow well. We do this by building consensus around robust place-based, asset-driven community and economic development plans and strategies.
We have nearly two decades of experience working with cities, towns, regions and residents on projects that span the fields of planning, design, real estate and economic development.
Our services include demographic, economic, and market data analysis, qualitative research and stakeholder engagement, and actionable strategic planning that reflects community values.
We are proudly Colorado-based with past experience working in (and exploring!) communities throughout the United States.
Our Practice
Community and Economic Development
Place-based, asset-driven community and economic development means leveraging the aspects of your community that are unique to grow your local economy. This does not mean growth for growth’s sake — this means growing sustainably in ways that improve lives.
Housing and Affordability
Housing availability and affordability is a critical challenge throughout the United States. We have practical experience in fostering alignment between market forces, local policy and regulation, and incentives in order to ensure accessible, affordable, and appropriate. housing for all.
Tourism and Recreation
Local economies grow by importing capital, and tourism is one way to do that. But without a plan, tourism can threaten the very things that make a place special. We help communities steward their assets while supporting local businesses and workers.
